W88 Premier League Sponsorship History

Six Clubs, Seven Seasons of Front-of-Shirt Deals

Since 2018, W88 has maintained an almost uninterrupted presence in the English Premier League through consecutive shirt sponsorship deals. Starting with Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Asian betting brand has sponsored six different Premier League clubs across seven seasons, making it one of the most active sports sponsors in English football.

2018-19: Wolverhampton Wanderers

W88's Premier League journey began with Wolves in the summer of 2018 as the club returned to the top flight after six years away. The initial two-year deal was terminated early by mutual consent, but not before W88 adapted its logo colours from light blue to black and grey to better complement Wolves' gold kit — a gesture the club publicly appreciated.

2019-20: Aston Villa

Following the early exit from Wolves, W88 quickly secured a deal with fellow promoted side Aston Villa. The agreement exceeded Villa's previous shirt deal with 32Red, making it a record commercial partnership at the time. Interestingly, Villa's sleeve was simultaneously sponsored by BR88, which shares close ties with W88, leading some observers to note that both Villa shirt deals may have come from the same source.

2020-22: Crystal Palace

W88 retained Premier League presence by moving to Crystal Palace for two seasons. The deal was reported to be worth around £6.5 million per season. Palace chose not to extend the partnership in 2022, opting instead for a deal with Cinch, amid growing speculation about a forthcoming ban on gambling shirt sponsors.

2022-23: Fulham

Upon Palace's departure, W88 signed with newly promoted Fulham. However, Fulham exercised a break clause in the agreement early, partly due to opposition from a significant portion of the club's fan base — a survey by the Fulham Supporters' Trust showed 47% backed a ban on gambling shirt sponsors.

2023-24: Burnley

W88 swiftly found a new home at Burnley, which had just won promotion to the Premier League under Vincent Kompany. Director Stuart Hunt praised the partnership as playing a "significant role" in helping the club compete at the top level. The deal marked W88's fifth Premier League shirt sponsorship.

2025-26: Sunderland AFC

After a gap season, W88 returned to the Premier League through a landmark deal with newly promoted Sunderland AFC — described as "the most significant commercial agreement in the club's history" by Chief Commercial Officer Ashley Peden. The deal also makes W88 Sunderland's exclusive Asian betting partner, with branding on all three playing kits.

  • 2018-19 Wolves

W88's debut Premier League sponsorship. The deal helped fund Wolves' return to top-flight competition and saw W88 adapt its logo colouring to match the club's gold kit.

  • 2019-20 Aston Villa

A record-breaking commercial partnership for Villa. The deal coincided with Villa's return to the Premier League and helped cement W88 as a major football marketing player.

  • 2020-22 Crystal Palace

Two-season deal worth an estimated £6.5m per year. Palace's decision not to renew in 2022 reflected growing industry uncertainty over gambling sponsorships.

  • 2022-23 Fulham

Fulham exercised a break clause early, influenced by fan opposition and the looming Premier League gambling shirt ban set for 2026-27.

  • 2023-24 Burnley

W88's fifth EPL deal. Burnley's promotion gave W88 a strong mid-size club platform during Vincent Kompany's first Premier League campaign.

  • 2025-26 Sunderland

W88 returns to the Premier League with Sunderland in what is the club's largest commercial deal ever. It will be one of the final gambling front-of-shirt deals before the 2026-27 ban.
